The book represents the second edition of the study of the text of the poetic epic created by the Georgian people about the last powerful king of Kartl-Kakheti Erekle II and the results of the study of its theoretical-scientific foundations.

The scientific value of the paper is determined by two important circum­stances:

• For the first time in the history of Georgian folklore, the epic of Erekle IIhas been revealed on the basis of folklore texts recorded in the environ­ment of living oral traditions of the XIX-XX centuries.
• It is established that Erekle’s epic is heroic-historical in its artisticessence. Also, the integrity of Georgian folk epic consciousness It is also certain that the Georgian folk poetic epic has sur­vived not by three (as thought), but by four creations: ‘Amirani’s Epic’,‘Eterian’, ‘Erekle’s Epic’ and ‘Arsena’s Poem’.

The book is intended for specialists and general readers.
